The Animation Picture Co. has announced that it has acquired the screen rights from Sierra Ent. and Vivendi Games to SPYRO THE DRAGON.
APC will base the CG feature on the recent LEGEND OF SPYRO trilogy of games. Steve and Dan Altiere (DR. DOOLITTLE 4) will write the script. APC’s Dan Chuba, John Davis, Mark Dippe, Brian Manis and Ash Shah are the producers. APC is looking for a director.
Debuting in 1998, the SPYRO franchise has sold more than 20 million units globally, earning over $525 million.

I’m going to love this! The recent trilogy was, In my opinion, the best series of Spyro games ever!
I hope they keep the same actors as I doubt anybody else could do Spyro’s voice as well as elijah wood.

Spyro is now dead to me…A new beginning ruined it for me and it’s from the producers of Eragon. They ruined the Eragon movie and now my childhood hero…So sad.

i begin my humble, quiet and polite comment by saying HOLLY BLOODY CRAP.
i love old and new spyro but the recent trilogy has more plot and is more adult [at least the games were PG] so is therefore beter for a movie. please let dawn of the dragon cynder voice cynder! love OLD AND NEW spyro.

A few things worry me about the Spyro movie… 1. Its made by the people who made eragon and it doesn’t take much of a movie watcher to know that Eragon was a complete failure of a movie compared to the book. Similarly The same people are in the same situation… The plot is set, There are fans ready to watch the production, There is no major conceptual planing involved. Yet the screwed up Eragon and I’m afraid they will do the same for Spryo…
2. The Cast is almost a complete blank… We only know one character. Spyro will be played by Elijah Wood (confirmed). But we have no idea about anything else… I’m especially worried about Cynder… If they get Christina Ricci from DOTD then that would be great. BUT she has absolutly NO emotion in her voice… This showed especially in the game in the “dark spyro scene” Check it out on youtube…
3. The Mechanics of the Dragons are gonna be a complete surprise. The original PS1 spyro used a basic Wire Frame for mechanics That’s why the controls were so loose in those games… The First 2 games of the Legend of Spyro series (ANB and TEN) based the movements of spyro off of a dog. The spyro movie is CG. So the animation will be almost completely done on the computer. And Mechanics for a game are A LOT simpler than that of a movie. how they will handle this is gonna be interesting.
4. Everyone wants to see more interaction between Spryo and Cynder. And we want to see a little more Personality Than what we get in the games… Spyros Personality in the LOS series is so 2 dimensional and Cynder is near bipolar… in the first game shes evil, Second game shes submissive, Third game shes a bit snobby and sarcastic but kicks @$$… Good luck to the movie crews cuz this movie is not gonna be easy to make to where the public will actually like it

Hell to the no. No, no, no, no, no. Spyro had died after the PS1 trilogy. People are just using him now to squeeze every penny they can get out of it.
MAKE SOMETHING ORIGINAL FOR ONCE!! This is just like Sonic. They just re-use and re-use.
LoS SUCKS!!!! If there was to be a movie it should be about him vs Gnasty Gnorc.
Spyro had lost it’s magic after the 3 games.

I for one, am excited about the Spyro Movie. Personally, I think that the trilogy was the best of the entire series. Some say that it ruined Spyro, this is probably because they cannot let go of the past and move on. As I grew up I began to let go of Spyro seeing that he did the same thing over and over; collecting gems, cheap gliding no flying, and stupid non strong role characters. After quite a time I got back into Spyro after seeing all the epic things that were placed into the series. The story is better, characters are better, bosses are more of a challenge, just a complete turn around. Besides that, Spyro looks so much better now; he and the other dragons look more like dragons and not Dragon Tale babies.
I still do like the older series, but it’s just not as good. Speaking of which, I happened to notice something awhile back. Tom Kenny had voiced Spyro in “Year of the Dragon”, if you didn’t notice, Tom Kenny also plays SpongeBob. Kind of weir huh?

i am really excited about the spyro movie! i am a big fan of elijah wood. i am also super happy that its based on the knew games and not the old. the characters in the old ones look like teddies.

hehe, i forgot to add a few things. For those of u who think it’ll turn out horrible, think again! The Eragon movie wasn’t that bad. I read the book after seeing the movie and i think the book could have been improved. I think the people who made eragon will do a fine job with the spyro movie. So, in conclusion, PLEASE, give these people a chance.

i know, i know, i should stop adding things here but i keep remembering other things to say. for those of u who dislike the los games are ridiculous (no offence). i have never played either of the three games but i have watched them in parts put on the computer by Dreadarkive ( i hope i spelled it right) and i think its cool. the only spyro game i have ever played is ‘ enter the dragonfly ‘. actually, i am still playing because i keep getting stuck . anyways, i think the movie will ROCK!!!

I for one am looking forward to the Legend of Spyro movie. I have noticed that lots of people think it’s going to suck because it’s being made by the producer of Eragon. For me, Eragon is one of my favorite movies ( the book sucks). Yep, it’s right up there with Lord of the Rings and Balto! I also realize lots of people think Saphira from Eragon looks silly with feathers. Well, I think she looks awesome with feathers, after all, a person can make a dragon look any way they want. So how about if you people give this producer a chance, okay?
