Extract from the interview:

Well, I`m 41 years old living near Hamburg in Germany and I started to work with airbrush in the very late 80`s. At that time I was a young guy and I was very curious. After buying an equipment like brushes, compressor and some airbrushes I did my first experiences. But at this time it was very boring and I throw everything for 1 year in the corner. Vincenzo Leombruno, a good friend of mine, has pointed me to his latest creation: a new layer manager for Autodesk Maya, called ‘Hierarchic DisplayLayer Manager’. HDL is a Display Layer Manager, similar to Photoshop’s. You can create containers to organize and manage groups of displayLayers, using drag and drop. Very useful for those who use to end up with a bunch of layers!

Go on and test it before Autodesk realizes that this should be included inside Maya! Click on the image to go to highend3d or download HDL from here.

After several adventures, including moving to a new home, lots of extra work, sudden travels, and computer errors (these are inevitable, as always…), AT LAST i’m slowly recovering my life rythm again.

So, CG-Today is back on stage again! Stay tuned for close updates!

A special greeting goes to those who have been reading the site even when there were no daily updates !!

Hi there! This is just a quick note to let you know that the lack of updates in the last few days is because I’m moving to my new home. Hopefully I’ll be up again publishing news really soon, in just a few days!

Meanwhile, here you got some links people have sent during these days:

Sergei Guziy recommends reading the Making Of Casius, hosted on 3DM3.com.

Hau Ming (Jamie) Li has done several making of’s, too. The first one, Cheese Platter, has been listed here on CG-Today before. Read now Making of Fruit Tarts, her second tutorial on food using Maya, Photoshop and rendered with Mental Ray.

Also, during these days Nvidia has signed a definitive agreement to acquire AGEIA Technologies, Inc., the industry leader in gaming physics technology. Expect to have PhysX on GeForce soon!
